Thank You
Thank you to our community for participating in our recent third-party Educational Priorities Community Survey!
Nothing is more important to Visalia Unified than providing safe and healthy learning environments so that Every Student is Learning Every Day. As you may know, most of our schools were built more than 50 years ago, and require upgrading to meet current facility health, safety and disability codes. Some facilities still contain original building materials, like asbestos and lead pipes that require continuous safety inspections. Our goal is to fix these issues to continue to keep all students and staff safe.
Community members have identified school and educational priorities that include:
- Removing hazardous materials like asbestos and lead pipes
- Continuing to provide safe drinking water
- Upgrading older schools so they meet current health codes, building safety codes, and providing proper access for students with disabilities
- Repairing or replacing deteriorating roofs, plumbing, gas lines, sewer lines, HVAC and electrical systems
- Upgrading schools to prepare students for jobs and careers
- Upgrading classrooms, labs and technology to support high quality instruction in math, science, engineering, and technology
Engage in the conversation as we develop a fiscally responsible plan to address the needs of our local schools. We look forward to keeping you updated on this important conversation.
